Obituary of Joseph Steele

Joseph M. Steele, 80 of Franklin Township, NJ passed away at his home on Monday, May 16, 2011. Joseph was born on April 8, 1931 in Harmony,NJ. He is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph M. Sr. and Stella ( nee Fenner) Steele. He was a farmer and was a self-employed excavator. He owned JMSteele Excavating, Franklin Township, NJ. Joseph was a member of the American Appaloosa Association and trained Appaloosa horses, was a 30 year member on School Board of Franklin Township, Joseph was a member of the Asbury Fire Company, a member of Futrue Farmers of America, and a member of the National Rifle Association. He is survived by his loving wife Virginia C. Steele. He is also survived by three sons; Joseph M. Steele III of Mt. Bethel, PA, Allen L. Steele and wife Nancy of Washington, NJ, and Jay R. Steele and wife Chi Chi of LaRussel, MO, a daughter; Bonnie M. (Steele) Conklin and husband Jack of Williams Township, PA, a brother; Albert Steele, three sisters; Winnie, Betty, and Frieda, seven grandchildren; Joshua, Dustin, Austin, Landon, Cody, Amanda, and Allison, and one great-granddaughter; Lainey Marie. He is predeceased by one sister; Alberta. A visitation will be held on Friday, May 20, 2011 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at the DeVoe Funeral Service, Inc., 136 West Washington Ave. Washington, NJ 07882. A service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The interment will be held at Montana Cemetery, Harmony, NJ. Donations in Joseph’s memory may be made to the Franklin Township Rescue, Asbury/Broadway Road, Broadway, NJ 08802.
