My dear sweet Dr Gwen. We have not spoken or crossed paths in so many years. She was on my mind today. So strongly. I did not know that she had passed. Heaven has truly gained an angel and this fallen world has lost one. We met in the 80’s, when I was a young social worker, with the Phillipsburg Head Start Program. I learned so very much from this wonderful woman. She was a teacher, a counselor, a mentor, a coach, and a dear friend to all who crossed her path. I’m blessed that she was in my life. The last time we sat down and had lunch together was with my four year old grand daughter, Mariah, who is now 24 I was thrilled to have her meet my first grand love. Dr Gwen was fun loving and witty, as usual. Mariah so enjoyed her, as well. Dr Gwen said something to me that day that continues to resonate in my brain. Mariah is of mixed race, as well as the five grands who followed her. Dr Gwen shared “God made bi racial babies extra beautiful because He knew the challenges they would face, in this world.” She schooled me on the importance of having a multi cultural environment, as I was helping to raise my granddaughter. And so I followed her advisement. How I wish she could see Mariah now and meet my other grands. Maybe she can. Maybe, just maybe this overwhelming feeling to reach out to her today is her presence beside me. I sure hope so.
My late condolences to her family. Dr Gwen was so very loved. By all. She touched so many lives. And we are all greatful and better individuals because she cared.

Dr. Gwen has always been a role model for me as a young woman growing up in a rural Black community. Seeing all that she had accomplished let me know that with a solid education you could do great things. She inspired my children to do well in school and showed us love as our neighbor. She was an Anderson icon. I am proud to share her first name. We will miss her!

Dr.Gwen epitomized a life well lived and in service to others. To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded. Emerson My heart is heavy tonight. ♥ My "Glinda" has passed on and this world lost one of its most caring, sharing, and intelligent women. Certainly the most remarkable women I have ever had the privilege of knowing. I met Dr. Gwen Roquemore when she taught a class for the Warren County Adult and Continuing Education entitled "Taking It To The Limit". She taught us that all things were possible, that fear and doubt were stumbling blocks, and to never ever allow another person to create feelings in us that were not enhancing, enlightening, and empowering. I loved her class so much I took it a second time a year later and signed my oldest daughter Jennifer Labar Odell up for it too. God ensured that our paths would cross often. She invited me to a meditation seminar facilitated by Unity of Lebanon and lead by the inspirational Audrey Palmer who later was the clergy who united Roger and I in marriage. When I worked for the Warren County Welfare Board Dr. Gwen facilitated a diversity workshop. In her class "Taking It To The Limit", Dr. Gwen had us write down goals on a self addressed postcard. She had us make an album with photos of people we admire, goals, and things we'd love to own and do. A few years later she mailed us those cards. I have reached almost every single goal including getting re-married, writing and having a book published, owning my own home, and going on a cruise to the Caribbean among other things. One goal still awaits...a ride in a horse drawn sleigh with family through the white and drifted snow! smile emoticon I know for a fact that many lives have breathed easier because of Dr. Gwen. She will hold a very special place in my heart forever. She truly followed the teachings of Jesus Christ.

We knew Dr, Gwen from Hagedorn hospital and around the town of Washington. Can't think of anyone sweeter or more compassionate than Gwen. She helped so many in her lifetime that she won't be forgotten. Our deepest condolences to her family and friends which are legion. May her deeds and her example be a guiding light to us all.
