Obituary of Yvonne Oakes
Yvonne Van Vorst Maginnis Oakes, 85 of Washington, NJ, died on Sept. 11, 2017. She was born June 5th, 1932. Pre-deceased by her are parents Geneva V. Maginnis and Albert M. Maginnis. Surviving her is husband Donald Oakes, her son, Donald and spouse Jackie Oakes, her daughter, Susan Oakes Boslet, and Alice and spouse, Bill Heinrich, eight grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.
She worked at Warren Hills Jr High School in the cafeteria for twenty-one years, where she was amazing with numbers and the kids loved her. She was also a devoted Sunday school teacher at the United Methodist Church for twenty years. She was happy to talk to anyone and could meet a new friend no matter where she went. She was a kind sweet soul who will be cherished and greatly missed.
Private services will be held In Hampton at the grave side. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Washington New Jersey for over 60 years, so we would like any donations to go to the church in remembrance of her. United Methodist Church 150 East Washington Ave, Washington NJ 07882
