Obituary of Eleanor Shields

Eleanor Evelyn Shields (nee: Jacobson) 78, of Oxford, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2008, at Hackettstown Regional Medical Center, Hackettstown. Eleanor was born of August 11, 1929 in Elizabeth, NJ to the late Martin and Gertrude (nee: Ellingham) Shields. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Shields in 1994 and a son, James Martin Shields in 1988. Eleanor owned and operated Shields Farm Stand and was famous for her and her husband's apple pie. Memberships: Eleanor was a member of the Oxford Lioness Club and the Eastern Star. She also volunteered at Warren Haven Nursing Home in Oxford. Survivors: Eleanor is survived by her son, Charles Shields and his fiancé, Barb Melberger, of Washington, NJ. Two daughters and their husbands, Linda and Harold Goerzen of Colorado Springs, Co and Barbara and Jay Thompson of Barrington, IL. Her sister, Jacqueline Giordano of Columbus, NJ. Also, four grandchildren, Christopher, Erik, Chad And Carol. Services: Friends may call Thursday from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM at DeVoe Funeral Service Inc., 136 West Washington Ave, Washington, NJ. Funeral service will be held Friday at 10:00 am at DeVoe Funeral Service Inc., 136 West Washington Ave, Washington Interment will be Friday in Graceland Memorial Park, Kenilworth.
